Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice is the epicenter of DC Comics' long term plans for cinematic glory. With connections to both Man Of Steel
before it, and all of the films that follow, Zack Snyder's latest film
is going to start threading together the shared universe that Batman,
Superman, and Wonder Woman will all inhabit. And one of those first threads ties the vile Lex Luthor to the Amazonian princess.
When you think about Zack Snyder's remarks, and what we know about the standalone Wonder Woman film, you can begin to put the pieces together for yourself. Much like Captain America, Wonder Woman's experience in combat during World War I will obviously become the stuff of legend. While her Diana Prince pseudonym will obviously be in the official records of whatever action she sees during The Great War, the tales of Wonder Woman's exploits will be the ones that become popular myths from the era. So why would Lex Luthor be so interested in an Amazonian princess?

In remarks from a recent interview with Empire (via CBM,) director Zack Snyder gave away a little more information about how Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice ties into Wonder Woman's presence in the film. While he didn't lay all of his cards down, Snyder did tease the connection with the following statement:
You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence, and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince.
When you think about Zack Snyder's remarks, and what we know about the standalone Wonder Woman film, you can begin to put the pieces together for yourself. Much like Captain America, Wonder Woman's experience in combat during World War I will obviously become the stuff of legend. Luthor's obsession with besting Superman
will obviously lead him to research every nook and cranny of god-like
creatures interfering with human events. Since the billionaire fancies
himself a god among men, the last thing he'd want is some super powered
menace getting into his business. So obviously, if following the money
could bring down Nixon, following the history of super powered
encounters should surely lead to the answers Luthor needs to take down
the last son of Krypton. While this is purely conjecture, it seems to
fit with the clues that Zack Snyder has just laid down about the link
between Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman's presence in the DC Universe.
Since one of the cardinal rules of the shared universe playbook is to drop hints about what's to come in future installments, tying the events of Wonder Woman to Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice
seems like a natural thing to do. If what we've hypothesized holds up,
this year's would-be blockbuster will not only abide by that rule, it'll
do so in a way that makes sense to the universe at large. The truth
will have to wait until March 25th, when Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice hits theaters everywhere.
